as secondary is mounted via a central hole in the front Schmidt corrector, diffraction spike is not present.from modding point of view, such schmidt newtonian didn't have much room to play with.
If you want to add a coma corrector, it has to insert deeper into OTA for a few millimeters. so you have to replace with a low profile focuser at the same time.
The primary is a spherical, so literally you cannot use it as a component for some other projects.
That's why most ATMers opt for a f/4 parabolic newton with a parcorr corrector
The schmidt corrector is different from that in Schmidt Cassegrain ( which has a f/2 spherical primary)
The price of a SN is positioned above a classic newtonian and below a SC.
The good conditioned second hand SN8 price is ~ USD300 (30~45% of a SCT)
