for practical use, 4 to 5 clicks in eg Ditting and EK43, increase the burr gap by 0.2 mm

Mahlkoenig GH2: the range is from 0 to 1200 microns(1.2mm), from Turkish to Percolator

 

just as a rough guide:

For Hario mini hand grinder, the pitch is 1mm, 7 clicks per rotation. It's not easy to find the "zero". here is my settings:

espresso:  7 clicks

pourover:  13 clicks (1.5 mm)

french press: 14 clicks

 

baratza encore or virtuoso:

range: (250 in encore) 200 microns to 1200 microns

steps: 40

step size: 25 microns 

baratza preciso: 40mm conical

range: 200 microns to 1170 microns

step size: 100 microns macro(40 steps), 10 microns micro(11 steps), total 440 steps

 

etzinger/ baratza sette 270: 40 mm steel burr, from etzinger.

range: 230 microns to 950 microns

step size: 100 microns macro(30 steps), 10 microns micro(9 steps, stepless in baratza), total 270 steps

rotating: outer burr, instead of inner burr
