Where to buy such carbon brush?

dimension of brush: 33 x 13 x 5 mm

hkd 50 a piece, two pieces costs hkd 100 ( asof Dec 2023)

but not sure this shop will still be running 5 or 10 years later

Taking the motor out is not so difficult. At least not the most difficult one when comparing the other steps.

connector is 7 positions, but only have 6 connector blades

The 2 mounting hex screws is 10mm. The motor refuses to come out and you have to lean the machine on it's back , and pry the motor out from the other end

Just a centimeter remaining from original brush:

The carbon brush is within a holder, which has a spring, and a copper braid to connect to the carbon brush.

Soldering the copper braid is not easy, and the original one is only protruding the holder by just a few mm. And you need some way to hold down the spring ( I hate springs)

The most difficult part is to replace the belt. The video shows this very easy. Too easy to believe.

Btw, if you can find the brush together with the brush holder, you might be able to replace it, without taking out the motor.

After struggling for an hour, luckily found another youtube, this saves the day.

Even turning the tumbler is not easy. The cable tie breaks itself, but mission accomplished 

After all, the motor can easily last for 10 years, maybe more. But the brushes will wear away in 6 to 7 years.

Btw, local repair quotes 1200 to 1400 for this repair, plus you have to wait for 2 to 3 working days

There is no real advantage of inverter (direct drive motor) vs ac motor ( universal motor), from maintenance point of view.

If the motor is faulty/ damaged, you have to find original replacement part for inverter. The dd motor is part of of tumbler assembly, machine tools is a must. YouTube 

The electronics of inverter DC motor should be reliable, except water or moisture leak in.

Only pro of dc motor: no belt, no carbon brush. These are "consummables" after years of use in ac universal motors.

Question: why a big electrolytic metal can capacitor? EMI suppression? Motor run? Usu 4.5uF 220VAC
